FREDERICK WILLIAM COTTON June 17, 1926 - June 25, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Uncle Fred on June 25, 2011 at Riverview Health Centre surrounded by loving family and friends and the most amazing nurses and health care workers. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Margaret, and his three brothers, George (Jenny), Alex (Marjorie) and Albert (Lorene).

He is fondly remembered by his nieces, Carole Mills (Ellis) and son Jimmy, Terry Price and sons Anthony and Scott, his nephews George Cotton (Colleen) and daughter Spencer, Fred Cotton (Lori) and son Spencer and daughter Katie, and Cliff Cotton (Vicki) and daughter Chloe. His circle of friends is far too numerous to mention - a testament to his kind and loving nature. A special thanks, however, to Gerri and Darlene. Fred was born in Winnipeg and, although he lived and worked in many communities in Western and Northern Canada, his heart and home were always in Winnipeg.

He spent 36 years working as a radio operator and reservations agent for Pacific Western Airlines / Canadian Airlines and Air Canada. No matter where he was working, Fred ensured that family was never forgotten. When it came time for someone to care for his mother, our grandmother, Fred stepped up and provided her with the love and care that was needed, putting his personal life on hold to do so. His care and generosity knew no limits. Fred's interest in sports was always front and center. As a youngster, he could be found at outdoor hockey rinks in St. James and Charleswood or on the nearest golf course with his brothers and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed playing and/or watching curling, hockey and golf. His stories were endless and we never tired of hearing them.

At Fred's request, he has been cremated and there will not be a formal celebration of life. We will be holding a graveside interment gathering at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in late August at a date to be determined. Fred has always been an avid supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society and would be thrilled if you could find it in your hearts to make a donation to them.
